Travis George

Lt. Travis George (retired) is a member of Creative Planning’s Practice Development Team, which is comprised of experienced executives and leaders across the country. Drawing on nearly 27 years of law enforcement experience, he specifically supports Creative Planning’s Law Enforcement (LE) and First Responder specialty practice by educating and empowering the Public Safety community on the value of sound financial planning, and the wellness benefits that result from it.

He is passionate about helping first responders reach their full potential, both professionally and financially. Lt. George retired from the City of Belton, Missouri, Police Department as division commander after 23 years of service. In that role, he led a large and multi-disciplined team, including uniformed patrol, traffic, and criminal investigations’ divisions. While at the Belton Police Department, Lt. George served as the department crisis intervention team liaison, a Belton Cares board member, a homeless outreach coordinator, and a training and development coordinator.

With his combined experience, he also served as an Airport Police Officer with the Kansas City, Missouri Aviation Department, and as a full-tme School Resource Officer in the Kansas Blue Valley School District, in addition to coaching middle school football, high school baseball, and high school wrestling.

Combined with his Practice Development, and Financial Wellness Education roles, Lt. George leads an Operation’s Team, which is responsible for interfacing with clients to create, track, and transfer investment accounts, facilitate client financial contribution and distribution methods, and analyze government pensions. He also works closely with Creative Planning’s account custodians and plan fiduciaries, to develop problem solving strategies which help support and simplify access to, and management of, various types of investment accounts and retirement plans.

Travis has a Master’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Lincoln University and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri. He graduated from the Missouri Police Chief’s Command College for LE Executives in 2013, and from the Kansas City, Missouri Regional Police Academy in 1995.

Travis has several instructor designations that were obtained during and after his LE career. Travis is married to his wife Angie and they share 6 children ranging in ages from 10 to 24.
